Death of Dr Richard Pankhurst

Dr Richard Pankhurst died on the 26th March 2013.

Richard Pankhurst, BSBI VC Recorder, a long time member of the Botanical Society of Scotland and RBGE Research Associate, died after a fight with esophageal cancer. His wife Ann, and daughter, Lucy were at his bedside in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary when he died peacefully. Our thoughts are with his family.

Death of Prof Paul Jarvis FRSE, FRS

Prof Paul Jarvis FRSE, FRS died aged 77 on the 5th Feb 2013.

Prof Jarvis was an outstanding forest scientist, a 1970s pioneer, working in the on the physiology of trees and measuring CO2 and H2O profiles over spruce at a time when no-one else had thought of these things. His influence was truly world-wide, and he will be sorely missed.
